"During these very unpredictable and unusual times, we are all inundated with requests to support a variety of important charities. Motivation to support the Rheumatology Research Foundation is not a difficult decision when one spends a lifetime working with and caring for men, women, and children with rheumatic diseases. You quickly recognize the tremendous unmet needs of these individuals that need to be addressed and although I have witnessed remarkable progress with improved therapies and outcomes over the past six decades, I can now envision the prevention of those most vulnerable and cures for those already affected with these varied and devastating diseases. The Rheumatology Research Foundation is unique among charities in the exceptionally low overhead and extremely high percentage of donated funds that are channeled directly to research and education endeavors.
As the Foundation's first president some thirty years ago, I was pleased when we were able to raise a few thousand dollars from members of the American College of Rheumatology. However, I am most proud of the visions, inspirations, ideas, and hard work of those who have facilitated the exponential growth of the Rheumatology Research Foundation these past several years. The Rheumatology Research Foundation is now the largest fundraising source of rheumatology research in the USA and the world."
